_At home with Germans

Would you like to get to know Germans? Would you like to be invited to their homes? If so then this is the right place for you! In the SMD there are many people in different cities, who would like to invite you!

At home with Germans – we call this offer the hospitality programme. How can you take part?

  1. You register yourself. It’s easy, just click here: “Register
  2. You will receive a message telling you who will be your host. If there’s no-one in your city, then we’ll try to find someone as quickly as possible!
  3. You will receive a message from your host, who will tell you when and where you are invited to come.
  4. The meeting takes place! That can be very different: Maybe you’ll be invited for a meal, or to come and drink coffee, or to go on a trip. If you were never at home with a German before, and don’t know how to behave, you will find a few tips at the end of this page.
  5. And then? If you enjoyed the meeting, then you can visit them again. And then maybe again... and again? Maybe a friendship will develop between you and your host!

Important to note is that the participation in the hospitality programme is free – you don’t have to pay anything. Your religion or faith doesn’t play any role: Your hosts are Christians, but you are welcome, whatever and in whoever you believe or don’t believe.

Here are a few statements from international students who took part in the hospitality programme…

“I am really happy to have got to know the E. family. Both of them are really nice and friendly. The first time I visited them they invited me for a meal and then we went to a small concert in a church. Naturally after that I invited both of them for a meal where we cooked and ate Chinese style..." Here are more statements ...
